There’s just under one month until Mothering Sunday in the UK, so if you’re planning a special day out for Mum, now’s the time to start thinking about arrangements. Mothering Sunday is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent to remember the Mother Church. Servants used to be allowed home for this day to honour their parents – usually taking home flowers or a cake. Simnel cake is the traditional bake for this day – find the recipe here.
